I am a chartered planner, working in academic practice and most recently was Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Sheffield. I continue to be research active. I also have several non-executive chair or board roles in national bodies, mainly in housing, regeneration and environmental organisations. I was appointed CBE in the 2014 New Year Honours for my services to housing and elected in 2004 to a Fellowship of the national Academy of Social Sciences in recognition of my contributions to policy research. I have lived in the Peak District since 2001 and in this village since 2004. I am keen, as a new parish councillor, to make my professional expertise in planning available to our council discussions and also to help ensure we can bring our local community together to help each other in these difficult times.
